Charmaine Schwenn started Schwenn Incorporated in 2018, having practised as an attorney and conveyancer for over 20 years.
Charmaine has served as chairperson of KZN Women in Business and on the board of the Business Women’s Association of South Africa. In 2011 she was recognised for her role in developing and growing her company and for contributing to the upliftment and empowerment of women, being awarded first place in the legal category of South Africa’s Most Influential Women in Business and Government Awards.
Charmaine obtained her BA and LLB Degrees in 1992 and 1994, respectively, from the (then) University of Natal. In 2006 she wrote and passed her Conveyancing exam, achieving first place in the Province and second place Countrywide. Charmaine has twice been a finalist in the Business Women’s Association Regional Business Achiever Awards – Professional Category and was a finalist in the Feather Awards, Courageous Woman Category. Charmaine voted as First Runner-up in the Umhlanga Women Achievers awards, as Achiever of the Year and in 2012 Charmaine was a finalist in the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry : KZN Women of Excellence – Law. Charmaine was appointed by the Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development as a Commissioner for the Small Claims Court in June 2018.
Charmaine serves as a Board Member of the Jes Foord Foundation and McCord Hospital, both on a Pro Bono basis.
In August 2018 the KwaZulu-Natal SA Women in Property Awards awarded Charmaine Professional of the Year – Private Sector, for the province of KZN for 2018.
Charmaine was awarded the “Real Hero” award by WE ARE DURBAN for 2018.
On 23 October 2018 Charmaine was awarded Professional of the Year – Private Sector in the 2018 SA Women in Property National Awards. Charmaine’s wide speciality focus includes litigation and collections in addition to conveyancing and general law.
